About

About Stack Guard: built by an agency, for real sites.

Stack Mode builds and looks after WordPress sites for businesses. We wanted one security plugin we could trust on every one of them, explain to every client, and afford at scale. Stack Guard is that plugin.

Why we built it

Agencies end up running a different security plugin on every site: whatever the last developer installed. Each one has its own settings, its own renewal and its own idea of what “secure” means. When something goes wrong, nobody is sure what was protecting the site.

We wanted the opposite: one plugin, configured the same way everywhere, that a developer can audit and a client can understand. It had to protect sign-in properly, keep backups we had actually tested, tell us about trouble in plain language, and never lock an owner out of their own site.

Stack Guard is the result. It sits in the WordPress layer of a security stack, alongside an edge service like Cloudflare and good hosting, and does the WordPress part thoroughly.

What we believe

How we build Stack Guard

Never lock people out

Security that strands an owner outside their own site has failed. Recovery switches, safe defaults and Test After Changing markers are built in, not bolted on.

Explain everything

Every feature ships with plain-language help next to its settings. If we cannot explain a setting simply, it is not ready.

Do the work at the right moment

Checks run where WordPress already stops, like sign-in and admin requests. Nothing is switched on until you choose it.

Price it honestly

One price that never rises at renewal, a Free plan that is genuinely useful, and no lock-out when a licence lapses.

Questions

About Stack Guard

Who makes Stack Guard?

Stack Guard is made by Stack Mode LLC, a web agency based in Reno, Nevada, that builds and looks after WordPress sites for its clients.

Why build another WordPress security plugin?

We needed one security layer we fully understood, could configure the same way on every client site, and could afford at agency scale. Nothing on the market did all three, so we built it.

Is Stack Guard open source?

The plugin is released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later, like WordPress itself. Paid plans pay for Pro features, updates and support.
