Terms of Service
The rules for using Stack Guard and buying a licence, in plain language.
Last updated October 26, 2026
1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Stack Mode LLC (“Stack Mode”, “we”) for using this website, the Stack Guard plugin, licences, updates, support and the customer account (together, the “Service”). By buying a licence or using the Service you agree to them. If you agree on behalf of a business, you confirm you can bind it.
2. The plugin and its licence
The Stack Guard plugin is free software, released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the GPL gives you over the code you receive.
A paid licence is a subscription to services around that code: the Pro and Agency features switched on by your licence key, updates delivered to your sites, the customer account and support. The licence key, the account and our update service are ours, and are not covered by the GPL.
3. Plans, sites and fair use
- Free works on any number of sites, with no key, and receives updates.
- Each paid plan covers a number of sites. One site is one domain; on WordPress Multisite each subsite counts as a site.
- You can move a licence from one site to another from your account or by asking us.
- Agency Unlimited is for sites an agency builds or looks after for its own clients. It is not for hosting companies, resellers, or bundling into hosting plans. If that is what you need, contact us for a separate agreement.
- Plan features are listed on the pricing page. Items marked “Coming soon” are not part of what you buy until they are released.
4. Billing and renewal
- Paid plans are billed yearly in US dollars, in advance, through Stripe. Prices exclude any taxes we are required to collect.
- Your plan renews automatically each year at the same price you are paying now, until you cancel.
- If we ever change a plan's price, the change applies only to new purchases unless we tell you at least 30 days before your renewal.
- If a renewal payment fails, your licence stays fully active for a 14-day grace period while the payment is retried. After that, Pro and Agency features switch off until payment is made.
5. Cancellation and refunds
Your first purchase of a paid plan can be refunded in full if you ask within 14 days. Other charges, including renewals and upgrades, are not refunded. You can cancel at any time and keep your plan until the end of the year you paid for. The details are in our cancellation and refund policy.
6. When a licence ends
When a licence ends or is not renewed, Pro and Agency features switch off and your settings are kept. Sign-in protection, two-factor and the access token keep working, so a lapsed licence never locks anyone out of a site. Backups you made remain yours.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- share, sell or publish licence keys, or use one beyond the sites it covers;
- try to get around licence checks or rate limits, or attack, overload or probe our services;
- use the Service to break the law or to harm other people's sites or data.
We may suspend a licence that is being misused, after telling you why where we reasonably can.
8. Your responsibilities
- Stack Guard makes attacks much harder, but no security product can promise a site will never be compromised. Keep WordPress, plugins and themes up to date, use strong passwords, and keep backups somewhere other than the site itself.
- Settings such as a custom login address, firewall rules, country blocking or a Content Security Policy can block real visitors or yourself if set wrongly. Test changes, and keep the recovery steps in the plugin's docs to hand.
- If you install Stack Guard on sites you run for others, you are responsible for those sites and for your agreements with your clients.
9. Support and updates
Paid plans include email support at hello@wpstackguard.com and updates for as long as the licence is active. We answer as quickly as we can and treat security fixes for Stack Guard as our top priority. Free users are welcome to email us; paid plans come first.
10. Third-party services
Some features use services run by others, such as Google Drive, Cloudflare, Google reCAPTCHA and WordPress.org. Your use of those services is under their terms. If a provider changes or stops its service, the related feature may change or stop too.
11. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The plugin also comes with no warranty under the GPL.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost data or the cost of recovering a site.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date, and email customers about significant changes at least 30 days before they apply to them.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, United States, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
